Realtor®

Obtaining a PA Real Estate Salesperson License

Helping counsel and mentor people through one of life’s biggest moments, starting your own business and enjoying flexibility in your schedule are all part of what makes a career in Real Estate so rewarding.

In order to obtain your license, there is a process you must follow.

1.


To determine if you can qualify to be a Realtor, first review the candidate handbook on the Pearson VUE website. Next, you must successfully complete the 30-hour Real Estate Fundamentals course and the 45-hour Real Estate Practice course. After passing each course exam, you will receive an original transcript.

Now it’s time to register to take your State exam. Create a Pearson VUE account and upload your original transcripts. Pearson VUE will process your registration, and then you are able to schedule your State Exam appointment.

After you’ve passed your State Exam, create your Pennsylvania Licensing System (PALS) profile, upload your documentation and submit your application for a Real Estate license. A criminal back-ground check will be part of this process.

In order to legally practice Real Estate in Pennsylvania, you must work under a supervising broker who oversees your Real Estate transactions and makes sure you are following all the requirements. When you are licensed with a member firm, reach out to LCAR for a Realtor membership application.

Ongoing costs associated with holding a Real Estate license include annual Realtor local, state and national dues. Other fees include Bright MLS’s quarterly billing and Supra Access.

Secondary Membership

If a licensee is already a Primary member of another Realtor Association and chooses to join LCAR as a Secondary member, there is a $100 application fee and prorated Local Dues to LCAR (State and National Dues are paid through the Primary Association).

Affiliate membership is open to any individual who does not have an active real estate license but whose business provides services, supplies, or is otherwise related to or interested in the real estate industry.


This membership category includes attorneys, engineers, architects, bankers, home inspection companies, mortgage companies, developers, title companies, and more!


Annual dues are $175 for the designated affiliate and $75 for each individual member.
